Subject: IAS, TAS, GS, CAS?

Do you understand the airspeed indicating system? You take your glider to Denver, "the mile high city" and take a glider flight. After a few hours of terrific soaring you are on downwind at 6000' MSL. Suddenly you think, "wow, I know the airspeed indicator changes somehow with increases in altitude, maybe I should

A. Increase airspeed on final to compensate for the inaccuracy.

B. Slow down on final because the inaccuracy.

C. What, me worry? Keep the speed the same, best L/D plus the wind which also equals 1.5 Vs plus the wind.

What about them apples? Answer later. Think about how the speeds are established and what happens to the airspeed indications as altitude increases. Steve.
