Subject: All that lift and we cancelled!?

I know many of you scratch your heads when you see the puffy cu and wonder why we aren't up there mixing it up with Mother Nature. All week we watched the Weather Channel wondering how accurate their forecast would be.

This morning, as every morning, I quietly clicked on the TV and hit mute to watch the "weather heads" do their thing. While it was obvious that the rain would pass by mid morning, the advancing cold front meant lots of wind this afternoon. Too much wind for the tow plane and too much wind for those on the schedule.

I take no pleasure in cancelling, nor any glee in separating folks from their money when little or no useful training will occur. Today our glide ratio into the wind would be like deadsticking a C-172. The tow pilots would be exhausted trying to hold a steady towing speed and the landings would be something to behold.

Was I fustrated watching the clouds build with those dark flat bottoms, oh yes. But when I watched the trees in my yard sway with every passing gust I knew the decision to stay on the ground was the right one for us. See you at the airport. Steve.
