Subject: Soaring season ends today

Saturday was very windy with spotty lift as expected with the passage of a cold front. A lot of good flying was done and the day ended well with the winds dying off slightly.

Sunday proved to be a great improvement and Jim Kapusta soloed after a couple of practice rope breaks. Nice job, Jim. The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to the ground crew; Thom Foster, Tucker Gregg and Chris Gregg. These gentlemen have worked very hard all summer to do everything necessary to launch and recover the sailplanes, run the cash register, provide preflight training to new students, keep the candy and pop machines stocked, pulled weeds, spread tons of mulch, executed my landscaping plans and kept the whole building clean and neat. And oh yes, grass cutting. Lots of grass cutting. I tip my hat and say thank you to all of them. Not only are they great workers, but each of them is becoming a very accomplished sailplane pilot.

Tow pilots Mark Grabiak, Ken Wagner and Jeff Richardson have provide outstanding towing all summer. They make it look easy, but it's not by a long shot. Thank you, gentlemen.

And to Noel Dean, instructor, mechanic, inspector and all around fix it guy, thank you. A great season. Steve.
