July 08, 2007 Subject: Ed Weisgerber leaves the nest! After a 2 year break in training, it only took Ed a dozen flights to reach his goal of soloing. Today was the day. After 2 pattern tows he was ready to go and blasted off to 3000' AGL. Ken Wagner had the tow honors and all went exceedingly well. The return for landing was textbook perfect and he greased it on rolling on to a stop on the centerline, wings level till stopping. Congratulations Ed, well done! The next soaring day is the 22nd of July and we are booked up. August schedule will be posted on the 22nd. Completed my final airline flight check on Friday at the American Airlines Training Center in Dallas. We are renting simulator time from American because our sims are all booked up with new hire training. As always it was a very challenging 2 days and it feels great to have it behind me. See you at the airport. Steve.
